After a tough start to the season we move into September, a month where I couldn’t possibly do worst than Mourinho. So with that being said…
September 10th 2016 Premier Division
A game we should have won but didn’t, poor finishing costs us 3 points. We lined up with the 3-5-2 but the next game will see us switch back to a 4-2-3-1.
September 15th 2016 Europa League
A solid performance away from home to start our Europa League campaign, A late Lacazette brace gives us all 3 points. The 4-2-3-1 will stick with us for us for the rest of the month.
September 18th 2016 Premier Division
Another Lacazette double, goals either side of Rondon’s Leveller get us the win. We dominate possession but create a similar amount of chances, a win is a win however and we needed a win.
September 21st 2016 EFL Cup
A completely different 11 take on Luton and get away it, Extra time and penalties were needed to go through.
September 24th 2016 Premier Division
The Scoreline may have ended close but we were by far the better team, playing some excellent stuff at times. Rooney puts Martial in behind twice and he does the rest, Negredo scores his first of the season from the penalty spot but we hold on for the win.
September 29th 2016 Premier Division
Its Ibra’s turn to get a brace now as we win comfortably against Mainz who only managed 2 shots on target. One of which though is a 30 yard free kick by Brosinski (great name) that flies into the top corner.
5 wins 1 draw 0 losses for the month of september is far better than the 3 wins 3 losses that Mourinho managed. An unbeaten month is fantastic even if it is expected, one disappointing aspect is we haven’t kept a clean in the league. Perhaps I’m inviting too much pressure with my tactic at the moment, something to keep an eye on and tinker.
Looking at the fixtures ahead October should be a great month for us, Man city is the final fixture of the month but its the only one that looks tricky.
